About modmypack™
Hi, I’m Jon. I’m a maker and, honestly, a tool guy. I appreciate a great tool, and I appreciate it even more when it has a place to live.
I have a real soft spot for Milwaukee® tools, and the PACKOUT™ system has become the backbone of how I keep things organized. The more I used it, the more ideas I had for making it fit the way I actually work. So I started designing my own parts, printing them, and bolting them into my setup.
modmypack™ is where I share those parts. It’s a one-person shop of free 3D-printable mods for PACKOUT™ storage: the things I’m using to make my own space more organized, written up so you can build them too.
Built in my shop, for my shop
Every design here starts as a problem I ran into. I measure my own cases, model the part, print it, install it, and use it. If it doesn’t earn a spot in my setup, it doesn’t go on the site.
That’s the DIY part I love most: you don’t need a fancy shop to do this. The Drawer Cradle, for example, takes a 3D printer, a soldering iron and a screwdriver. Each design comes with the parts list I built it with, print settings, and an install guide. The files are free; sign in once with your email or Google and every download is one click.
“Hasn’t someone already made this?”
Probably, yes. And that’s fine.
PACKOUT™ is a popular system, and plenty of people have had the same idea: put an organizer on drawer slides. Every one of us is designing around the same fixed object. The case’s width, its molded ribs, and its lid are set by Milwaukee, not by us, so any part that holds one is going to land on a similar shape. Similar isn’t copied: two people measuring the same box will draw similar lines.
Everything here is modeled from scratch, from my own measurements of my own cases, and tested on real hardware. Where I made choices, they’re deliberate:
- It cradles, it doesn’t clamp. The Drawer Cradle holds the case by its molded ribs, so the organizer lifts straight out and goes with you.
- Real threads. M5 heat-set inserts instead of screws biting into plastic.
- Common hardware. It bolts to many standard side-mount drawer slides (118 mm hole spacing), and the exact parts I used are listed.
If another design suits your setup better, use it. That’s the best part of 3D printing. And if something of mine doesn’t fit your hardware, I’d rather hear about it than not: that’s how the next version gets better.
What’s next
The Drawer Cradle is the first design. More PACKOUT™-compatible prints are on the way, and they’ll all live here, free, one download at a time, each with its own build guide.
I’m a fan, not a partner: modmypack™ is an independent maker project, not affiliated with or endorsed by Milwaukee Tool. Milwaukee® and PACKOUT™ are trademarks of their owner.
